VSI manages its green commitment through our fleet business model for carbon reduction and fuel savings, our meter recycling program, electric use reduction program through fluorescent lights and our computer monitor LCD program. We always encourage recycling in compliance with local ordinances.

Carbon Reduction
As a provider of meter services, VSI employees rack up a lot of miles driving from job site-to-job site. We have developed our fleet management model through a major motor corporation that maintains ISO 14001 certification, an EMS system and considers LEED when building new plants..

The bulk of our energy use is in fleet fuel. Energy use is tracked through gasoline consumption. We do not permit idling and vehicles must be turned off and locked prior to approaching a premise. Dependant on geographic availability and the scope of the program, travel time can be minimized by maximizing client warehouse space, which reduces carbon emissions and fuel consumption.

Recycling Program
The meter recycling program is an excellent opportunity to reclaim metering metal, plastic, glass and other parts. Agreements on electronic information transfer help us reduce paper and ink consumption. This is a good step towards reducing resource depletion.

Electrical Conservation
LCD monitors are approximately 30% more efficient; therefore VSI is in the process of replacing all CRT monitors with LCD monitors. VSI typically leases space for projects and is bound by contractual terms for energy management. We work with the lessor to ensure that we comply with the best possible local and state environmental programs, and where permissible by contract, VSI works to exceed the standards in place.

Environmental Program
VSI pledges to conduct its operations with respect to sound environmental policy. We strive to optimize customer benefit with minimal environmental impact. We believe in continuous improvement for recyclables, reduction / control of harmful substances, waste management and environmental audits.
